Before you ask any questions, I have found the pictures and they are below. I know nothing about the swap, or who has done the swap, or what's involved. If anybody has more information on this swap, please post your knowledge!! Enjoy!

There is one pic in there with a cut axle. If they are planning to cut a section to make a custom legnth axle, they are going to be in for a big suprise. I have done that before on my friends Lumina with the 3800 supercharged, and it lasted for about a week. He took it to the track and on the first pass with his slicks it broke. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/icons/icon8.gif

Oh yea too bad they were to chicken to put a TURBO engine in that car!! How do i know? Cause a turbo "boost neck" the part that connects the intercooler tubes to throttle body is ALOT smaller than the one there! Check out my sig... im gonna do it like a man!!
Cool! I've only seen the 2nd pic before. As to the axels... that's easy to fix. Just have mosler engineering custom cut an axel. I had it done for my 4 spd. OD tranny and it ran about $50-$60 each!

On the 7th pic down,
Thats the turbo charger hanging off the bottom of the exhaust manifold there. You can also see the oil return line from the turbo just below that.

No clue where I found them at. I found them while at school this afternoon and saved them to disk. I had to upload the pics and show them because so many people have been wanting more information and more pics on this install. I'd still like to know more about it.

I stand TOTALY corrected... but the boost neck isnt right... they must h ave pulled it off cause a 1g neck is a TIGHT 90* bend and very small... UNLESS its a 2g engine... larger boost neck!?!!? But id hate to see them slide that OBDII engine (2gs are OBDII 1g is OBDI) in that car... OBDII can be tricky to make happy!

Nice, somebody has way too much time and money. I am still thinking of a B-18 Honda motor for my GT, don't think it would be that hard, but definitely different. Chris
I dunno, I've test-fitted my Northstar into the silver car, it's still a LONG way from running
torch-cut axels?! you're got to be KIDDING me!
Best! Ben

I am the guy who is building that Fiero. It is in fact a turbo 4g63, the turbo hanging off the manifold is a Mitsubishi 20g.
I am (was?) planning on using cut/welded axles, however I have found a place to actually make up a set that are not so hoopty. The wiring harness for the motor is still lying on my garage floor, cut and labelled, ready to go in. This has been a project that is 2 years in the making. I am taking my time and working on it as time permits.
It is a stock Mitsu. front wheel drive tranny from a 94 Eagle Talon.
Obviously some of you know the potential of the motor. My "race" Talon dynoed 410hp to the wheels, and that motor has never been open... stock block and stock head. I figured with the light weight of the Fiero and less breakage without the AWD system I would have a pretty nice car.
That's the basic scoop. I'm thrilled someone found the pics and is excited about the project as I am.

hey minngreen, didnt anyone tell you that a 1989 pontiac 6000's (overdrive 20mm spline) axles would have fit perfectly? thats what I used. And it worked, just cost me $140.00 witch is alittle more than you spent, wait, thats not cool. dam.

Project looks great... I have started the same project im my barn... well my grandmothers barn... lol... anyway. I am going to use the Eclipse gauges and computer rather than splicing in Fiero parts. I already worked through most the parts that would need to be spliced (turn signal indicators, cruise indicator, hazards, and so on) Only thing i am wondering is if the 4g63 water pump has enough balls to use the Fiero coolant system. Looked like similar size pump "turbine" when i changed the pump on my 92 gs! I am using a "nuked" engine to make all the mounting hardware and i am saving up for a JDM engine.... We have no emmisions laws in my county so im safe... lol! Also i am quite aware of the potential of the engines too... Specially being only 35 minutes away from David Buscher's shop... Good luck on your swap if you have any questions Fiero or DSM let me know... Im awesome with both! Do you have any more pictures? Id love to see them!

Nope- they didn't work on mine! Trust me, we tried... don't know what the problem was, they just didn't fit (we bought them and ended up returning them). And yeah, mine came out a little cheaper
Zedder24- Welcome to the forum! Glad to see we finally have some "real" info on this swap-in-progress. I first saw one of the pictures discussed last summer... but no one knew anything! I can't wait to see more. BTW: I notice by your sig that you have an MR2 also... nice collection of cars you've got there

I'd like to put a saab turbo into a fiero some day. They are pretty much bullet proff engines, have nice high RPM power. About 200HP stock. They are also pretty small and light. One of these would probably be close to an Eclipse powered fiero.

i was thinkin about doing this swap eventually too. i liked the honda B18B LS/Vtec turbo swap because of the all- aluminum honda engines (and the fact that i already have a B18 motor in my integra), but it's already a lot of work for the swap alone and i figured it would be easier to just swap in an engine that was already turbocharged from the factory- one less headache. the 3SGTE (is that the code) toyota motor would be a lot of fun too. i can't wait to see the finished product either.

Ahh, so you're the guy! It's sick to have 410HP on a four banger! That fiero is literally going to fly! I see from your quarter times that you don't play. Those times are with a 3500lb. vehicle, and you just dropped about 1000lbs by using the fiero. That's insane power you're dealing with, gotta love it. Keep us posted! Welcome aboard the Fiero Forum!
BTW- how did you find out about our community?

Thanx

Its harder than you think to get that power outta a v6... Steve Hamm a local guy had to go leaps and BOUNDS to get 420 out of his v6... Forged EVERYTHING where as the stock 4g63 in a Eclipse, Talon, or Laser can handle 600hp stock!! Although you have to upgrade turbo and fuel system! Thats the reason i am doing the swap too... Although i am only lookin for like 400hp or just under. Then engine i am buying is 220hp stock... out of a 2L thats 110hp per liter... Pretty good if you ask me! Oh well just my 3 and 1/2 cents!

because you'll be poppin' head gaskets left and right It's more like: rebuild quad 4 with lo-comp pistons, o-ring head, turbocharge and drop in And unless you spend alot of money, they're not really reliable past 350 hp or so, I'd guess. Streetable limit N/A is 230-240 hp. Definatly not to 600.
