I'm in midland , but willing to travel. I called the one place , but they wanted $650! for a 4.9. I have been told I should be able to get one for under $200

Genesee Auto Salvage on Dort Hwy. near Flint has a 19?? 4.9 in the car. The guy,Dave, said $750 for the motor, computer and harness. He said he'd cut the subframe on the Caddy and leave the mounts intact. It was a 100,000 mile motor though. I thought it was a bit steep.

LOWFUNDS...

Where is the yard you're talkin' about? The only yard I know of in that area is on 131 south of Three Rivers. Is that the one?

$750 for a motor is a wee bit high.

I looked at a caddy last week that had fallen victim to rust , but ran great. Whole car $500 Canadian.

Found a 4.5 with auto tranny in car running for $400.Can

Rockcrawl said they could be found even cheaper than that.

The quest continues.

I'm not sure if it's always pick-a-part, or if they just don't bother us young guys, but I've gone to a place here in Flint called Tiger (auto salvage, junkyard, parts recyclers...whatever it is they call themselves lately) and got some stuff. They don't have a ton of selection, but it is pick-a-part for us. Good luck.

They wouldn't happen to have any V-6s, would they? I haven't been there since last summer looking for console parts.

BTW, my dad's from Sturgis. He was running back on the football team when Sturgis High won the state championship a thousand years ago. Dr. Clyde D. Bell....He STILL talks about it.

Nope, no V6 Fiero's in any yards around here. The 3 in three rivers are all 4 cyl's.
