The Miata was put into C Stock in 1993. Until then, the Fiero was one of the top cars in CS.
Since the 1992 Nationals a Fiero has never trophied at all (except in E-Mod).
ProSolo was a different story. The Fiero had a lot better launch, it was a tight race, and which car won depended on how tight the course was. The tighter the course, the more the Miata was favored.
Drag race - - forget it. even the 2.5 Fiero should take a Miata in the 1/4. And in a street race, the Fiero again (unless the street race is on a twisty road).

In a straight line race, it depends on the age of the Miata. Over the years they slowly added more power to them, although even a brand new one stock vs stock still favors a Fiero. They aren't road rockets, and the first few years they were kinda dogs. Speed wasn't really the point anyway for them back then.
A newer Miata will take a duke, but should still be a little behind a V6 Fiero... but it shouldn't be by much.

My step-mom's '93 Miata came with a ltd. slip and weighed a lot less than a Fiero. Plus, the 1600 made 118hp, so I know the Duke would be in trouble, and the 2.8L would be hard pressed. I never got to drive the Miata and my '84 balanced and blueprinted 'stock' Duke back to back, but I'd bet the Miata was quicker than it too.

My question to the C-stock results is such:
How many Fieros are still running, vs. how many Miatas?

Here's the results against the last Miata I raced... Yeah, he lost bad! Remember a street race against a Miata in '92 when I had my 4 speed 2M4. Again the Miata lost.
On the autocross course it's a different story. Those things are quick! Every one of them that I have raced against (C stock) had race tires and I was using street tires except one, one time, it had street tires as well. I beat that one (it was a pre '96), the rest always beat me by about 2-3 seconds.
Those Miata's don't look like they're going fast on the track, but they do.
Ya...I think he got 57seconds or something...but he had a horible run...I know u beat him tim...I was proud of the fiero that day but he did have a really bad run...but man that thing was torqy...

In tight autocrosses, the Miatas are very nearly unbeatable. On more open road-race courses (Sears Point) they lack power. (then again... so does the Fiero)
In a straight line, the v6 fiero will beat any stock miata (they do have easy turbo kits which make those little cars haul tail though. Nice mild boost on a stock compression ratio engine, so you don't loose off-the-line pickup. what little the tiny motors have.)
But hey, with some sticky rubber, the little cars can *really* scoot. Nothing like a slammed-to-the-ground featherweight car with great balance and a factory LSD.
Best! Ben
