Having installed new powerful subs that I got from my friend with a FIERO (now its fiero related )

The actual fiberglass top of my trunk is pulling in and out and vibrating all around with bass hits. Isn't that gonna warp it over time? What can I do to fix it? I hate to look into something expensive as hell like Dynamat but I may have to. I know a lotta you hate me but those who don't I could use some advice.

My suggestion is to pull the subs out and build a box that fits inside you fiberglass tub and poly fill the box(that will fool the sub into thinking it has more space) make sure your box is sealed nice and tight. PORT your bass into the passenger area from your fiberglass tub. This will releive the push pull effect that the bass is creating. that way you only have to worry about windows flexing rather than destroying the fiberglass tub its sitting in now!
To answer your question yes the flexing will weeken and make more rattle and disintigrate your bass
BTW i was an old stereo tech years ago and built many competion systems specializing in 100 watts or less systems that would blow the socks off some high powered systems i hear today!

How 'bout trying a firing plate?

Sound deaden the lid... It may help. Doubt the vibrations is going to cause any problems.

I second this. I really can't stand it when a car makes just as much noise as the speakers inside it because it's license plate is flapping against the back end. I have had a few people say things like "your car doesn't rattle because you don't have enough power." The fact of the matter is that I really enjoy the challenge of putting a good sounding stereo in the small cabin of the Fiero and the benefits of not having problems like BlackStang with having the trunk resonate with the bass.

As an answer to your question:

1) Get a Fiero (you know you want one)

2) Do something to isolate the sound to the cabin of the car. I did this sort of thing once in a Monte Carlo by building a false wall in the trunk that sealed the speakers off from the rest of the trunk. It really didn't help much but I have seen it done better than I did.

3) Change the resonant frequency of the trunk lid (and or other vibrating parts) with dynamat or something similar.

4) Turn down the volume.
