Well. At least I didn't wreck. I was driving to Best Buy to look at printers. I made it about half way there. The car started to sputter and the engine just shut off. I managed to coast up the off ramp to a gas station, barley. I called up a friend and we went to the dealer where I picked up a ingniton modual. It was worth a shot. Needless to say it didn't work. I'm guessing it's the fuel pump. I don't know what else would just make it shut off like that. I'm supposed to be saving money not spending it. O well.
Bummer My current 84 let me down monday morning two days after I got it. I had it towed home, performed an engine transplant a week later and threatend to use it as a parts car if it broke down again. Won me 3rd place at a car show and has been trouble free for almost a year now
I guess I should be thankful it broke down in town and not half way across the country or something. I want to go to the Dells Run next year. I need a solid car to make that trip. I've missed the last two years. From all the pics they looked like great shows. I have family that live in Kenosha so I'm saving up enough vacation to take about 3 weeks off. That should be enough to visit with family and make the car show. I talked to a friend in Kenosha who has a 86 Red SE who wants to go now too.

Just taking a guess here, but it looks like it was pretty wet by the pictures...could be an electrical short caused by water. The car might just fire up ok when dried out. Most likely electrical connnection to fuel system or ignition.
It drove great Monday, before all the sleet started. Your probably right. While I was warming it up it just shut itself off, but started right back up again. I'm praying it's something simple.

If you can wait till it dries out and it does start....The next thing you should do is find every electrical plug in the engine compartment. Then unplug - plug the connection a couple times then spray the plugged connection with silicone. They also make a electrical connector grease if you want to go through the trouble, just read directions good before using.
Hope that's all it is.

Mine did the same thing going to work a couple of months ago. The check engine light came on and the motor quit. I turn the key off for a while and turned it back on, except this time I couldn't hear the pump running as it normaly did. Had it towed to my neighbors service station and he told me it was the fuel pump. It cost some money to have the tank dropped and replace the pump, but it hasn't given me any problems since. I think it even had the original pump with 158000 miles on it.

Honest, it wasn't revenge for sending all these cold temps down here! Oh, listen to me, now I'm calling 40 degrees "cold"... you'd never know I enjoyed 14 winters in Ohio! Gettin' spoiled, but that's what old age is for. Where was I? Oh yeah...
Keep your chin up. Let us know what you find out.

I had a bad day today. I was coming home from work and I hit a deer in my Buick Regal. Needs a plastic fascia for the front and the headlight moldings to hold them in. Hit it at about 40 mph. Damn deer. As I write this I am eating venison so may be a behind the wall little pay back. Anyways I am pissed over that.
SO if ANY of you guys know where I can get 85' Buick Regal parts, I would be happy.

Hope you make it to the Dells next year! Should be a good time and we are due for some good weather. You are orginally from Wi, and transplanted to Tx?
Yeh. Originally a Wisconsinite. I had to follow a job down here. And a good thing I did too. I here the job market is pretty bad back home. If it were better I would move back instantly! Missin' all that good ice fishing. A friend back in Kenosha keeps bragging on how he's going to the Brainerd, MN ice fishing tournament. We never come home with any prizes, but it's a fun 4 hours of fishing.
