The 87 GT with Enkei rims on it, 17x7, looks sweet. I know she needs a washing, but I had to get the pics up, sorry they're so big.

A few more...

The tires on the wheels are Kuhmo Ecsta Supra's, 225/45R17 all around. They must be the worst tire I have ever had, they handle like crap, can't get over how awful of a tire it is. I'll have a few more shots of the int. a little later on, if you all want to see them. Overall, I am really happy with the wheels themselves and they look so sweeeeet on the fiero, the pictures do it no justice.

How much did those run ya? Also, I want my tires when I get the fatty rims to poke out about 1-1½", how wide of tires would I need for this? What offset also.

Well, I just got new rims and was going to post, but you just started this thread, so I'll join in

I just got mine on Friday, and I love them, I'm glad I did it. 17x8, 40mm offset, 245/40/ZR17 on the rear and 17x7, 40mm offset, 215/45/ZR17 on the front. They're Konig Tantrum wheels and Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires.

The sizes were all perfect! I thank the forum members for helping me choose. The tires are almost exactly as wide as the wheels, and the wheels match the body line perfectly. The tires hook up really hard, it'll take a while to get used to. When I drop the clutch at 3500 rpm, it bogs down a ton and almost stalls. My 160k mile 2.8 just doesn't have the power it needs

Oh, and another nice benefit to the wheels is that they will be really easy to clean.

I got the entire package including wheels, tires, lugnuts with four locking lugs, hub adapter rings, mounted and balanced, and shipped for 1150 bucks. Good deal for what I got, for sure. No sales tax either!

Why would you say the Kumho tires are "crap" kempo? I had a 225/50-16 Kumhos on my old fiero and they were the best tires I have ever had. Everbody seems to like them also, I dont understand ?¿

Oh and those wheels/tires look sweet as hell Nashco and Kempo !

Actually, new rims can make a lot of difference! If they're ligher, you'll have quicker acceleration and braking, which lower lap times or 1/4 mile times. If they're stickier, they'll allow higher speeds through turns, or better hookups, again lowering times. Lastly, you can fiddle with tire sizes and effectively change the FINAL final gearing of your vehicle to better suit your needs.

Maybe to an extent, but not as much performance as say a 3800 supercharged series II.

These Enkei 17x7's are about the same weight as the stock GT wheels. I really like them on the car, it really accents it very well, silver wheels with the silver ground efx.

Master Sushi- I just don't care for the Kuhmo tires. I would go as far as to say that I could probably handle the car better with the stock wheels and tires.

Nashco- You and I have the same tire (Kuhmo Ecsta Supra). How do you like yours? I can't really say much about the tire other than it's going back to get the Michelins. How much do your wheels weigh? Also, how many lbs. or pressure are you running with those beauties?

As far as lowering goes, I'd love to! Any pointers on good springs or spindles? How much lower can I go from factory? Any links? Who's good, who should I stay away from? I checked on the height both before and after I swapped the wheels, and it was the same, so I achieved the goal of not attaining a greater height with the new wheels.

I've been watching out for those. Lately I've been thinking of a 3.4 SC, puts down more HP and Torque STOCK than the 3800SC. The biggest difference is that from what I've heard, the 3.4L is a much much much easier engine to put in the Fiero than the 3800 seriesII s/c.

Well, at first they sucked, because they weren't broken in. I found that the warmer they got the better they stuck, but this was only in regular driving, nothing hard. I'm very satisfied with them for 100 bucks a piece. I highly doubt I'll be able to find something better for any less than 50% more cost. I still have a lot to do to my car before I can realize any gains with different tires, so it was just right for me now. Later on if I want more, I'll get it. I do know for a fact that these tires ride much better than stock at high speeds, and hook up about 5 times better than my old worn out Goodyears. Hard turns feel close to the same, maybe 10-20% more stick, but again I can't realize those gains with my suspension yet.

The wheel tire combo weighs 42 lbs. each. I'm not sure what the stock wheel and tire weigh, but I figured it to be around 35-40. Does anybody know?

Pressure...didn't even check yet They came inflated, and I was so excited I just ran with it. I'll start fiddling with it in a couple days and see what happens.

Good springs-go with Eibachs. You can get 2", but 1" is max if you want to retain stock alignment settings, from what I've heard. My car has some unknown springs (believed to be fiero store 1") that lowered it about 1.5 inches. Just lowering the front improved the look of the car a hundred times over, my 88 was WAY too tall up front. They should have come about 2" lower from the factory, in my opinion.

Tigger has some 2" front spindles, I have a link at home, but not here at work.

If you want to put those 17s and some better tires to use, you're going to want to do springs (or spindles if it's in your budget), konis or kybs, poly bushings, and make sure all of your ball joints and tie rods are alright.

What does that 3.4 sc come in? I havent heard of it. Is it a production engine? I like my L67. when it is said and done (well not really done that never happens) it will make 340-350 hp no nitrous.

Has anybody thought of ----20's----- yet.
i have ahad 17 (enkie) for a couple of years and am going to put them on caddy v8 car and am seriouslly considering 20's. since 18 wouldn't be that much of a change.

The big question is 1. will they fit
2. do they offer a
5 x 100mm bolt patt.

Anyone know.
Thankx
jimmy B.

I was getting scared when you said the new tires handled badly;I just got a set of those for another car.
New tires always take a little driving ti scrub off the mold release stuff on them.

No, like I said, once they got broken in and got all that nasty crap on the outsides worn off, they were pretty nice. I pushed them a little harder today, and they are definitely better gripping, especially in a straight line. As soon as my suspension is built more and better tuned, I'll be able to see who well they hook up in turns too.
