my friend got rid of his 00 M2 miata and got this. i had to fix the radio and an oil leak on saturday.. both not the cars fault.. installer error. it's got 24,000 miles and 248hp at the wheels!! it drives like a DREAM! and sounds like Pavarottie!
oh yeah.. it's a 95 Porsche Carrera C2 with a 3.2. 6 speed.

Hmm when I see them together like that.... the Fiero definitely. It's just much more beautiful. it has that kind of mystery look to it. The performance might not be as good, but you can change that. Yup, definitely the Fiero, I'm 100% sure

Or just have one of each Although my Porsche isn't quite as new, (1966 911), it's nice to be able to pick which one to drive on a pretty day. They're both a blast to drive and besides, you can't have too many fun toys.

Man what a decision. after serious consideration I think I would have to keep my fiero. After all anybody can buy a nice car but it takes something special to make a nice car. I would have to bet that 1fstgt's car would get more looks than that porsche.

I dunno about that Porche... If it were mine, I'd have the overwhelming urge to drive it through a large piece of glass. Then I'd drive drive it around full-throttle looking for a Honda to trash.

Oh Lord, woncha buy me a Mercedes-Benz, my friends all drive porsches, I must make ammends!!!
The decision's easy. Now park the Cheeto next to a nice 355 Cabriolet, and that's a tough call!
Best! Ben

The Porsche would be nice on impress the ladies factor... but since i drive a fiero, i'm not that worried about that. Let's see, fiero is just as fast, cheapter to insure, cheaper period, you can have someone do work on it in this country....
After seeing Service Bills for a 911 I'll take the Fiero. Not scared to bash it up, spark plugs don't cost $18 each and their are 12 of them (Twin plug motor)
But from a driving experience ..I'll take a well prepped 911. It's hard to explain the feeling of a hot rodded 911.
This is my Dads , it's a 94 RS (1 of 701 made) 3.6ltr , bigger jugged to 3.8ltrs , schrick cams , Motec Brain kit , LSD , 3.94 gears , Coil overs , B&B headers and a slew of other mods. Such linear ass whoopin Power. This particular motor put down 360Hp and is good for mid 12's if you can keep the tires from going up in smoke. No AC , Cloth Seats , no insulation , loud ass exhaust..2685lbs , 8000rpm redline pure Joy...
It's used for track events and Autocrosses where it's been known to pull wheels off the ground.. Fun Fun Fun
NO I don't get to drive it much. Insurance man says not til I'm 25. Although I have done a few laps in it
Travis..that should be a 3.6ltr I believe. 3.2 was faded out in early 90's.

I'd take the Porsche. Why? 6 speed. It's as good of a reason as any.
FieroRyan, to make your hood like his, look underneath it and cut out the part that is surrounded by the bracing, (you'll see what I mean), then put some mesh where the hole is. It shouldn't cost that much to do unless you mess the hood up.

I'd rather have a Fiero, too. Then spend a good chunk of the price difference between it and the Porsche on upgrading the Fiero.
I'd much rather have a Fiero GT with an LT1, better suspension, bigger brakes, etc.

Not to sound like a wise-a$$, but the guys with 3800SC Fieros are getting pretty close to that time, and they probably don't much more invested in their entire car as the engine mods alone to the Porsche.
True about 1/4 mile times. But you will Never get the feel of a porsche on the track out of a Fiero. Porsche isn't about 1/4 mile times. I can build a nova with a big block that will turn 11's for 1/10th the cost of building a 911 street / race monster.
You really have to drive one to understand. It's not about 1/4 mile , it's a complete package. I have worked and reworked my Fiero suspension numerous times, Ridden in extremely well prepped 88's and I can tell you that even with work done to them they don't have the same level of precision a Porsche does. I have ridden in cars and driven cars with complete tubular suspensions ..ect..ect.
Mid 12's out of a 3.8 with no turbo's , blowers or NOS...Impressive. Champion motorsports has cars running on the street with 1.7 BAR's of boost and 650hp from 3.6Ltrs!
yeah , perhaps I'm a little biased towards the 911. But ride in one and you will be too!
Just my 2 cents from experience. I love my Fiero for the ability to swap in motors ,the fact that it's different and numerous other factors. This is a hard subject to tackle really , money wise the 911 is more , and for the cost it does everything it should..if anyone wants an explanation my dad loves to give people rides in it... It's cool when you look out the back window at night and flames shoot out the exhaust as you shift..Fun Fun Fun.
It's apples and oranges.

I'd RATHER have an early 90's 911 Turbo but I have no problems affording a Fiero.
I assumed the question was simply which would you rather have (if money was no object). If that's the case, would you guys seriously pic the Fiero?? Hmmmm.

driving a 911-993-996 whatever.. rear engine Porsche is an experiance. the fiero is fun. the Porsche is a work of art there is no ONE great thing it's all perfrect as a system... you either appreciate it or you'll never understand it.
I am fortunate enough like slammed to be able to mess with greatness quite often... i can't afford one but i understand why they are worth so much. drive one.. you'll understand too.

A guy at work has an 83 911. Let me drive it a couple of times. No big deal to me. He's trying to sell it right now because he's never been hassled by so many wannabe street racers and cops in his life. The thing is ridiculously expensive to maintain, too.
Personally, I have always been a porsche lover. It is my dream car. Why? Try a 462hp 3.6L n/a engine! Now that is an engineering feat! Personally, with money as no object I'd prefer the 911. However, it is my hope that I will have a nice, stock Fiero, a gorgeous modded V8 (probably) Fiero, and a Porsche. Then a BMW 300 series or something for a daily/ winter driver. That's the plan anyway! Umm, I'd better stay off of here and go back to studying if I want that to happen.

Hi Jonothan, all the 911s I've ever driven have felt nice, but the engine's in the wrong end for my weakness (it's just a preference thing)
I feel *exactly* the same way about Ferraris. *everything* built from the ground up as an Art in motion. Pretty and elegant when it dosen't strictly have to be. Ever seen the intake castings on a Testarosa's boxer motor? Good god, they're beautiful!
It's just not something you can explain in words, the cars must be *driven* to be understood!
PS: do you ge fire shooting out on the off-throttle with Catalysts in the system?
PPS: Drove a 00 non-turbo 996 about a week ago, is it me, or are the lquid-cooled 911s just no damned FUN anymore? (keep in mind this is the 'low-end' 911, only 300bhp on tap I'm sure a GT2 would change my tune. But I couldn't make this puppy do anything but understeer. *Nice* build quality though.
Best! Ben.
