I'm a new forum-ite, but this looks like a great forum so far. I have a lot of questions, but will start out slowly...
First, I recently bought my third Fiero, an '88 GT (much like the one on the right of the top frame here) and have a few questions about it.
It is white, with "GT" trim, but it also has "Formula" written in hollow letters on the side of the doors, with multiple black pinstripes along the white (not gray or silver) base boards. Also, the top of the rear bumber, just below the breaklights, is black, and apperantly the same material as the pinstripes and Formula lettering.
I was under the impression until now that the "Formula" model was an in-between model, much like it is for modern Firebirds. (Base coupes, then Formulas, then Trans Am/GTs.) So why does my Fiero have both Formula "clothes" on and yet sport GT emblems, steering wheel horn cover, GT guages, etc. I should mention that the VIN# confirms its GT-ness...so why the Formula stuff?
That's an incredibly long-winded question, so I will ask the other ones later (like stock HP and such). Thanks all! =)

First off, welcome to the forum! Ok, about your question...if it is a GT (fastback model) like the white or red on on top of this page, than the "formula" decals were just something a previous owner did for unknown reason. The Formula was 88 only, and had the basic coupe body, but w/ GT engine/drivetrane.

The 88's were rated at 135HP from the factory. That's down 5HP from 87, but no changes to the engine. They rated it at a different rpm for emissions reasons. Also, many Fiero V6s were dynoed back then at about 150HP or so, so the ratings don't always tell the whole story.
Welcome to the Forum!

notice the ground effects are white and they have those pinstripes...notice the "formula" on the sides, etc... I wonder if I should take them off then.....
A little background incase anyone is wondering...
I bought a 86 SE (V-6) in Anchorage AK back in 1996. After selling it and moving back to the lower 48 (I was in the USAF) I bought an 85 SE (V-6), total beater. It was so bad I didn't even try to restore it, and since it was a four speed manual (don't laugh, but I prefer the auto,) I began looking for another one. Now I have the one in the picture. It is very nice, though now you guys/gals have me wondering what else is aftermarket? (It has fake wood veneer over the console, which I am 95% sure is aftermarket, but everything else seems legit.)
This forum rocks! You all should be proud to have found it so long ago, as I just discovered it last night!
I checked the Vin#s on all the major components before buying the car, and the decklid doesn't match numbers, but everything else does. I need to ask the previous owner about the Forumla stuff. He was the only guy who owned it, and it was a garage car (until now, sadly) and so the interior is very nice. The steering wheel material hasn't begun to stretch or melt, etc.
The first seven of my VIN are "1G2PG11".... so I guess it is a GT?
Thanks for the compliment on how my Fiero looks =) I need to post the other two I had. (I hate to admit this, but I always name my Fieros and place the name in the space to the right (over the tach.) It is the hole that matches the odo but doesn't have anything.)
This is definately the centralized Fiero Community I have always dreamed of. *snif*
Third... PLEASE REMOVE THE FORMULA & STRIPES (unless you really like them?)
Hehehe the one thing I do like about them is that my Fiero is known on my side of Denver. There is another White fastback somewhere around here, I saw it about three weeks ago, but it never prowls my area... Fieros must be territorial. =)
One day (after I graduate from college and get a real job) I will fix her up the way she deserves... for now she is okay, the only maintenance I do on her is preventative. My car made me do a u-turn in busy traffic to go back to it, since it had a for sale sign in the window. It is the nicest Fiero I had ever seen in person...still is so far.
Forth... Welcome Again...
Thank you, and everyone else! I will try to avoid already discussed topics.
