Well I have finally found out more about my tumour. Not malignent as far as they can tell anyway. But very very very slim chance of that. Also my surgeon informed me he has a success rate of 95% of people coming out of it with no major disability with his 10 years of doing these ops. At worse I am probably not going to be able to feel the side of my face on the left side and may have some difficulty swallowing or may have some wierd feelings in my left side for life. But hey...life is the operative word and much better than other options
I was allowed to come home tonight so I can spend a day with my kids tomorrow and then I go back into hospital tomorrow arvo. Surgery is Friday and will take about 5 hours.
After that I am looking at 2 days in intensive care then another week in hospital. When I come home I have to then rest for 6 weeks.
I will have a golf ball size hole in the lower left of my skull but they said they will not put a plate as it is covered by muscles and won't need it. He has done the same op to a pro footballer who still plays to this day with the same hole.
So my spirits are up big time now and I am very happy even with impending extended recovery time.
Thanks for the flood of email well wishes, they really do mean a lot to me. Monkeyman will be keeping in contact with my wife and will be able to give updates on my progress.
Cheers all and keep on Fieroing.

You will come through just fine. We all love you here and we're all thinking of you and praying for you (for those f us who do that). If you can, have your wife let us know how it all goes.
I may be new here and do not know you as well as many others on here. But thru reading back posts on the group I can tell that you are a very kind and careing person and everyone here seems to love you very much. Just from reading thru your posts I feel as if I have known you all my life. You are just that kind of person. I would like to wish you a quick and speedy recovery, and I would also like to wish your family to be well thru the whole ordeal. I am sure all will come trhu just fine and I will be eagerly looking forward to your first post upon your return to us.
May The Gods be with you and may the Sun shine upon you.

I just wanted to mention that I know a kid a few years older than me who had a tumor just like yours removed about a year ago. His was I believe about the size of a golf ball (or was it baseball, I know it was BIG) Anyway, I just played poker with him the other night and you would never know anything was ever wrong. 110% recovery. Just though you would like to hear another success story. Good luck.

Jim, Sounds like the surgery you are about to undergo is fairly routine, although I'm sure that *you* don't consider it so. We'll be waiting for you, here. Do take care of yourself. You will be in my prayers.

mrfixit58--I got back together with my wife a few months ago. Jim's only gonna be out for a couple days after surgery and his wife is a few thousand miles away (from me). Nice try, though.
