What exactly is a "Fiero SS"? Is that anything like a VTEC Toyota Corolla?

I think you need to clean and polish the area between your windshield and the trunk

that space is ignored by everyone - like we cant see it for some reason.

I keep my spare tire in with the valve stem on the lower side, you can store more stuff in there that way.

now you can hide stuff under the spare tire cover! Looks great.

"What exactly is a "Fiero SS"? Is that anything like a VTEC Toyota Corolla?"

NO, it's not anything like that.
I see the SS as one step above an SE and one step below a GT.
However, if I keep fixing this baby up, it might end up being one step above a GT...Heh, heh

Damn you stimpy you beat me to it.

When I think "SS" I think Camaro SS with its muscle car heritage and muscle car motor. When I think SS I think of the Chevelles with their big block motors and wheel spinning torque.

When I see SS on a stock Fiero, I think rice.

You are right, it is one of Rodney Dickmans awesome spare tire covers. However, I worked with Rodney on what to use to get the Fiero GT lettered part of the printing cleaned off by carefully using laquer thinner. Then I had a custom made Fiero SS aplique that matched my other SS decals from Paul McKibben that I placed on it.

I really like your car FieroJoe. That is a sweet colour you've got going there.

Black88GT: I didnt know that you could turn a Fiero into a Ricemobile? I thought only imports could become Ricers (with the extra sticker, exhaust tips, and tints of course)?

Fiero5: Nice wheel cover, it really cleans up the look of the trunk--less dirty looking in there that way, eh?

It's no longer marque-specific... it's become a state of mind.

I realized this when I saw a teal Ford Probe (factory color) with yellow bodyparts here and there (obviously everything you could take off in an afternoon with only a screwdriver) and a big yellow graphic diagonally across the hood/front fender in Japanese Kanji script...

I prefer not to use the phrase "rice-mobile". I think it's over used and xenophobic. "Poser-mobile" maybe. But hey, you can name your Fiero whatever you like. I was just wondering if I missed something.

Thanks to everyone that has posted the kind words so far.
I am still fixin' 'er up, and one of the areas to get attention soon is cleaning the rest of the spare tire area.

The first show it looks like the Kelley Fieros may be attending is the Fiore Pontiac show in RI.

Hope to see some of you there. Right Phil?
Maybe even Lou Ferrigno, heh, heh (inside joke)

Fiero5 -
I hope my post didn't sound like I was saying I thought it looked rice-y... I kinda like it.

I love to do things to cars that look like they may have come that way as a factory option... "OEM believability", I call it. I think yours is pretty close to that... if this group didn't know for sure that there never was such a thing as a Fiero SS, I'd believe it...

(BTW - SS usually stands for Super Sport, but you can call it whatever you like. )

My only complaint would be that "SS" is a Chevy moniker, and you're putting it on a Pontiac. Kind of like a Super Duty Chevelle. But aside from that one nit, very well done. Nice job!

I don't like it for the same reason I don't like stock Integra's with Type R Vtec SiR stickers. It's kind of ironic how everyone on this forum will bash the hell out of a Teg/import with improper badging but when a Fiero does it they get the silent treatment. I would probably feel differently if the car was powered by an LT1 or something similiar. Also like Formula pointed out, there is no such thing as a Pontiac anything SS.

Not to get off topic but its sad what the "SS" has become. Seen the new Monte Carlo "SS"? They didn't even give it the S/C version of the 3800.

Oh yeah, KissmySSfiero, you must not have been around for the infamous football thread in the O/T section. Do a search for it, to my knowledge it has the most posts of any topic ever on PFF. The subject is "Those tricky Buccaneers" started by Ricecooker. Enjoy all my pics hehe

Blackgt, Ive seen the thread but its too long for me. maybe ill check someday. i still hate the ravens because they left cleveland. i do agree with the SS on the Monte Carlo. why no SC3800. gets me.
The only way KissMySSFiero will ever appear anywhere on my car is when i do a V-8 swap with TPI and i get a custom plate that has it. but thats it. i would rather have a sleeper anyways. I guess KissMyGTPFiero doesnt have the same ring to it.

Though the Tech 4 in this awesome Fiero is cranked up plenty and can take out most of the yahoos I meet at the lights and on the highway, I was thinking that since the SS does come from a muscle car era, I might want to slap something in the engine bay that is a little more in touch with the SS heritage.

My wife Marian (Fiero2) and I went to a big salvage yard today and looked at alot of different cars. I looked at a few Grand Ams that had quad 4's, and a few cars that had big V6's and so on.

I just need to find the right engine that will be an easy swap for this allready awesome beast, while staying within what I feel is appropriate for the SS on my car. Not that it isn't awesome enough to have the SS on it now, as it certainly is... heh, heh, heh
