Hi, can you swap a passenger side seatback with a driver's side? I would like to fix a grey 86 coupe's driver's side tear. Does anyone have a PERFECT passenger side seatback (if it is possible)? The car only has 40k on it, so it has to be almost brand new looking.
Thanks a million,

It can be done but not as easy as a cushion. I have one of mine apart now, the covers can be switched, just a re and re. You can unbolt the reclining mechanism but the other side must be cut off and a new mount made. The hinge mount (console side) is part of the back plate. Then a new mount must be made and installed and the recliner (from a driver's side) remounted on the proper side. An alternate repair is to remove the foam and replace with a better pad (or portion thereof). A PITA either way, I'm afraid.

Just swap the skins, not the seatback. All you will need is a hogring pliers and some hogrings.

Easier to replace seat cover. Find a good replacement from a passenger side and switch.

You cannot switch the seats themselves.

Yeah that makes more sense, thanks for the help. Does anyone have a good skin for sale?
Thanks again,
