OK, I've been promising a how to article for this and I finally got something up. Not as complete as I would like it, but a good start. Check my website.
This is my new intake scoop, designed and fabricated by me. I think it looks much better than the Holley version, and due to the round shape and larger opening, I would bet it flows more air. What do you all think?
There's one made by BBJ Enterprises (did I get the name right?) that looks very similar to that. Personally, I like the full quarter panel scoops. If you're planning on trying to sell these, I wish you the best of luck.

I thought about making more to sell, especially since it turned out far better than I expected and only cost around $15 in materials. The problem is the labor. Between the intial fabrication, the sanding (lots and lots of sanding) and the paint, I probably got 10 hours labor in it. I'm pretty lazy unless it's for my car, and the labor I would want to recover would make it too expensive.
How 'bout if I just post a how to on my website and you can make them yourselves?
I'm going to Phoenix for a week to get out of this damn Portland rain, so check my site in about 10 days and it'll be there.
That's an awesome idea sjp, I love to learn processes like that, that we can all do on our own. Your scoop looks pretty good, I agree that it is definitely an improvement over the vacuum attachment Make a posting on here when you get the web page done, I can't wait! Did you happen to get pics through the process by chance? Later.

I LIKE IT! I think that is the best looking side scoop I've seen (sorry tigger) and the only one I'd put on my car. I'd be willing to buy one in an unfinished state and do the sanding myself. Most fiberglass stuff you get, you'll have to do that anyways.
I know, I'll trade you a sub-box for a few of em, mebbe 3?

stimpy?! I guess first impressions can be deceiving. You're not so bad after all, and you have impeccable taste
Unfortunatly, I have the subwoofer situation covered. Check my site around a week from Saturday and I should have the how-to posted. When you see how it's made, I'm sure you'll have no problem doing your own. The sanding and painting was the biggest pita. If you can do that on your own, the rest is a walk in the park.
Now I'm off to sunny Arizona for a week of strip clubs and drunken debauchery. Check y'all when I get back.

Does it make a noticable increase in power? I know that a lot of the guys just make their scoops for looks, but if i make one and add one, i want it to add some sort of boost and not just look cool.
