Has anyone ever looked at the possibilities ? I have an old Ford 289 cid. V8 and I'm planning a Ford GT40 rebody project. So a 289 would be the perfect engine...even if it is in there sideways...lol

i remember reading that Archie .. I THINK said they were longer than the SBC causing ral modification to the frame.. instead of just a w/p pulley hole.

I'm thinking about a 302 Ford swap ...
after I'm finished the 3800SC swap...& the SHO conversion ...

Actually, I think it can fit okay w/an electric water pump & a custom adapter plate, but I haven't done the measurements yet.

For a number of technical reasons, I would not use the 289 block. - Use the 302.

why would you want a ford engine in a Fiero? Most people put GM engines in ford cars/trucks

I just dont like ford motors much

If you end up doing the 302 conversion, you are aware that you have to get some of the old 5.0 things from the mustangs and put them on the side of the fiero right?

You'll have more room on the sides of the engine but it is longer than a SBC.I almost did this(can't remember why) and found the best way would be to center eng./trans in car. This requires modified axles. Very possible. I do agree that a 302(pre 5.0) would be a better engine.

At this time all this is just a flight of fancy.....lol. The only reason I was thinking of the 289 cid swap is because I have one and because thats what the original GT40's came with.
