The past few days I have seen some pics and heard of GT's without some options. I am just wondering who out there have GT's without options such as a/c and power windows? Also GT's had PDL and PW standard, right? I know my GT has no sub, sunroof, rear defroster, spoiler but I think these are more of a personal prefernce in ordering a car.
My 87 GT has no A/C, rear spoiler, or factory sub, but had all other options as far as I know. What confuses me the most is the glove boxes at the front passenger side. It seems almost every fiero I see has something different there. Also, door storage compartments seem to differ as well.

Many Canadian GTs came without A/C. I have several. Power windows w/map pockets were standard on all GTs. Power door locks were not. I have 2 87 GTs identically optioned but one has power locks and one doesn't. The factory subwoofer was only availible on a/c cars.

found a pic that TwisT posted the other day of a 88' GT without power windows. Looking at the pic it just sort of looks odd without the window switch in the center

TwistT's car has power windows (those two toggle switches on the center console). What is missing is the power mirror switch that would be mounted in the center between the power window switches.

I bought an '88 GT parts car 2 years ago (wrapped around a tree). It had no AC, power locks or power mirrors. It was pretty much a stripped down model with the exception of the drivers side power lumbar seat option......very strange.
Most '88 GT's came with the 1SA option group, which included the power locks & mirrors, but a few were ordered without this grouping to get someone into a GT for the least amount of $$ (how's that for a run-on sentence)

Well, I'm not sure what GT's came with if they were ordered w/o any extra options, but I'm pretty sure that PW and power trunk were standard. My GT has PW, PM, PL, power trunk, r. defrost, AC, wing(well, it used to...).. everything but the leather seats and performance sound, I think. Also one of roughly 2,000 86 GT's with the 5 speed maybe not the rarest thing in the world, but rare enough to make me feel special

I'm not dumb. I just have a command of thoroughly useless information

According to the spotters guide, 2,855 86 Fieros were ordered with leather This equals 3.4% of prodution in 86. Factor in some were SE's and a leather 86 GT should be pretty rare, especially if the interior is in decent shape.
My 86 GT has the leather, gold paint, and a lugage rack. How's that for some options?

OK I dont have a GT but.... It seems strange that my '87 SE has Auto, A/C, Cruise, Tilt, Rear Defrost & a Sunroof. No PW or PDL... Why would someone order a car like that? Ive never seen an A/C & Cruise car without PW or PDL....
You think that's strange? A friend of mine has a fully loaded '85 GT with pw, pm, sunroof, spoiler, air, cruise, tilt, EQ radio, rear de-fog., power trunk.....the weird thing is it has no power locks!
It's interesting how some cars get equipped......some were specially ordered a particular way and some were ordered by the dealer with certain options (like a stripped down coupe with rear de-fog).

At one point in time you could order a car built the way you wanted it. You just waited for assembly. I did that in 76 with a Chevy Nova. Set up a four door with 350 4bbl, Camaro sport suspension variable power steering and vinyl interior, with a 2.73 POSI rear end. I wanted a car that was set for highway driving not drag strip. (married at that time). It was one of the most reliable cars that could cruise at 70 all day and not even breath hard. I imagine that some Fieros could have been ordered rather stripped, although the dealers would rather load them up for profit markup on the options. My 87 was a dealer order, that had every option available including subwoofer system.. He had a bunch of them on the lot when I found it, every color imaginable with either auto or 5 spd transmission. My 88 was a Florida car with a plain top, with all the power equipment, leather seats, but the base am-fm cassette radio.
Sometimes they are built with whatever equipment is available at the time of assembly. I had Chrysler product special ordered, however when they were building it, they did not have the engine available, so they substituted a different engine. I refused to accept it. The dealer talked me into another order, and that car came in with the wrong interior. Waisted 6 months with Chrysler trying to get a car. Haven't looked at another Chrysler in 20 years.
Sorry to ramble. Crooks in the auto industry. I had to take the dealer to arbitration to get my deposit back. I did and got a Pontiac.
