Well, it's finally happening! I've been looking for a Fiero for quite some time. I've been pretty picky though. It had to be an 88 and a V6 and a 5-speed. But I finally found one I could afford that was what I wanted!! It's a red '88 Formula, gray interior and sunroof. It needs a clutch and brakes, but other than that is in A1 shape. Since I don't pick up the car till Monday (owner is out of town) and I want to surprise my friends when I drive up, I HAD to find someone to tell before I exploded. I'm sure you all understand. Yippee!

jch82... I found a crusty looking(faded paint-body is fine) red/grey 85GT/Auto with 77k miles that the guy wants $600 for but doesn't run at the moment. He says when he parked it a few yrs ago it ran great. Claims it just needs to have the Dist cleaned up. I'm going to try to tow it away for $500. I''ll post pictures of it up here someday.
Well, I just picked up my new 88 Formula this afternoon! SWEET! Needs a clutch and brakes, but other than that, she's A1. I'll see if I can get some pics posted later tonight....
Gotta go cruise, now - Work can wait for later.....

Congrats on your new car! A fine choice if I may say so
If I were you, I'd do those brakes myself. With the redesigned suspennsion, 88 brake jobs can get expensive very quickly. I got a couple very scary quotes (one was $800 for just the rear!!). I ended up doing the work myself and only spent $200.
Good luck with the car and have FUN

(I was the one that got him hooked on Fieros ten years ago when we went screaming around cloverleafs down in Florida in my (then) new 4-cyl. '88 Coupe... now we've got twin Formulas! Yeah, buddy!!!)

Yea, I'm definately doing the mechanicals myself - with a good friend's help, of course. Thanks for getting me hooked, LZeitgeist! Oh, and I didn't get the car in SC. It came from a Raleigh, NC owner. I was just VERY lucky to find the car I wanted, at the price I could afford, and right in my back yard. The only unknown really (other than when you buy any 13 year old car) is the emissions. It has a saftey only inspection, not an emissions inspection which is required here. So, I gotta find out if she'll pass. And with NCFieros first Raleigh meeting this Saturday, I'm all set, baby!

Tryin' to coordinate my friend's digital camera with some sunlight. By the time I get off work, it's too late to take decent pics. They'll be along as soon as possible....
