Aren't they pretty much the same? All notchbacks, all V6's. What are the differences in these vehicles 85 GT, 86 SE, 87 SE, and I know the Formula replaced the SE in 88.
Any info on this for my own self knowledge would be great! I would just like to know.

The 85 GT didn't have the center pod for the aux gauges. Had gray ground F/X.
The 86 and 87 SE had black ground F/X. The V-6 cars had the aux gauges. The 4 cyl (very uncommon) cars didn't. All had the same (grooved) trim. Spoiler or luggage rack was optional. Smooth deck was standard.

The GT had a more plain interior.
The GT didn't have an AUX pod.
The GT wasn't avaliable with the subwoofer option.
The GT has a 45 psi fuel pump
The GT has a slightly different E-pprom than the other two.
The 85 GT came with "Body by Fischer" emblems on the ground effects.

The 86 has a 39 psi fuel pump
The 86 and 87 has the 86 Fiero GT interior
The 86 and 87 are avaliable with the subwoofer as an option.
SOME 86s came with the Aux gage.
The 87 has a 42 psi fuel pump.
The 87 has modernized headlight motors.
The 87 has the Engraved FIERO in the plenum.
All 87 SEs came with the AUX gage.

Thats all I can think of.

My 86 has the 45psi fuel pump. I don't think the fuel pump or Eprom changed between 85 and 86 (both have same part numbers per the Pontiac P22 parts book). Also note that the late 86 and 87's that had a manual trans had the getreg 5-spd. Where the 85 GT and 90% of the 86's had the 4-spd.
GT had 3-spoke steering wheel and SE had a 4-spoke wheel.
In actuallity the differences are cosmetic, Mechanically they are the same car. (except for the trans diff between the later years)

0-60 isn't a lot of difference, but the 5-spd is way better gas mileage than 4 spd due to lower RPM at highway speeds. Also the 4-spd if it breaks is harder to get parts for it.

IF it breaks. I have 147k miles and my 4 spd tranny is fine. Just aout evryone I've met who has a high mileage 5 spd has some kind of issue with the syncros. I also like the long gearing on the 4 spd, don't have to shift as often when driving aggresively through the turns. 5 spd is good if you do a lot of Interstate driving.
