While walking thorugh the local junkyard the other day looking for a 3800 sc me and the owner came across a grand am turbo motor. He said that would be interesting. I said what? He said slapping that into a fiero. I was like would that work? He was like i dont know. So i thought i would come on here and see if anybody has done it before or has heard of it being done? Any answers? I can get the engine and turbo real cheap. I forgot to ask if it was intercooled or not though?

I believe that engine is only a 2.0l and not very powerful. And I've never seen any aftermarket parts for it. I'd say keep looking for the 3800 s/c.

Just the turbo might be something to look into. With all the fussss, I think I would fuss with an aftermarket one first.

How much do those engines cost? My sister wants a Fiero too, so I thought it might be cool to build a project car in a couple of years and give it to her for her 18th birthday..

a metallic red 84 SE, with a 2.0L sunbird or grand am turbo 4cyl.. aero notchback fascias and moldings, sunroof, etc. and a stereo almost as good as mine.. (she loves LOUD trance & techno music too )

Find a turbo 3.1 from a grand prix 90-91
200 hp stock...add some higher ratio rockers and rebuild to a 3.4 and you should see 240hp with an exhaust and some porting.

why not look into buying a new factory replacement.
I'm sure there must be a way to modify the boost too...rather than rebuiling for power...

Anybody got any info on that turbo 3.1 motor? Is it just like the normal 3.1 of the 90-91 cars basically, or is its internals different. Would this be a pretty easy swap?

Grand Prix Turbo

Different crank and pistons, otherwise identical to a normal 3.1L. There are rebuild kits out for them.

anyone got a price for any GM turbo 2.0L?

I'm not gonna even think about giving my sister a turbo 3.1, or even 2.8.. she's crazy enough just driving a gokart..
(we used to race all the time at a local track)

besides.. I wouldn't mind playing with a turbo 4cyl.. but not a duke. hehe
