A fellow member recently took some pics of my car while I was re-installing the body work. He was interested in what was under the fascia for an upcoming repair he had. If anyone is interested in looking at the pictures they are located here. I will be posting pics with all of the panels removed when I develop the film.

The pics are located at the bottom of the page, the ones at the top are of the car right after I hit a deer. Doesn't look bad, but....

This project has seemingly been a very slow mover. I hope to have it primered soon. Then I am sending it to a good paint shop for a coat of Intense blue pearlcoat. (Used on new Dodge pickups) Man do I miss driving my car!

Jon,

Looks good so far! Brings back a lot of memories, mine was in primer about this time last year.

That insulation stuff was the worst idea GM ever came up with. Yes, it dampens road noise and stuff, but the moisture it traps reeks havoc on the subframe. The road noise I have now with the stuff removed isn't annoying or too loud. I can carry on a conversation with someone (or myself ) inside the car without a problem. I get a harmonic resonance "boom" around 60-61 mph, probably caused by the pattern of my tires.

Here's something that worked well for me. I painted the fascias off my car and bolted them on after the car was painted. I don't think I would have did it any other way. Not sure if you can work that out with shop that's painting it for you.

If they want to charge you extra for bolting the covers on, then you could bolt on your old bumper covers or even your good covers (if you don't have a truck to take them in) with enough bolts for a short drive to the shop. You could drive a few miles without them, but not sure if you'd get pulled over if you've got a long drive. Most cops would understand, heck I've seen people drive smashed up cars for weeks with no headlights and no covers around here, at least you'd have a good reason. Anyway, when you get to the shop just unbolt them and when the job is done, bolt them back on for the drive home.

Hope this helps, sorry about it being long.

Brent
