On Friday, a local college dude stopped by at my work office to interview me and to collect reference material for a school report he was doing on groundwater quality (my field of expertise). We immediately recognized each other as he works part-time in one of my favorite auto parts stores. I have pics of my Fiero and other hotrods on the cubicle walls, so we talked cars for a while too. Heartland Park drag strip had their first grudge night of the year recently and he was there watching (I was not). Anyway, he said there was an awesome V8 Fiero kicking butt at the track that night. Looks like I'm going to have some competition when I finally get the Batmobile together enough to race this year. Can't wait to see this car, I'd heard rumors for a couple years now that a local guy had a fast V8 Fiero, but I thought maybe it was just the one I bought. Cool!

If you are able to complete the v8 you had planned and get that in the fiero, he will stand NO chance! How many h.p. were you estimating you would be getting?

Hey Doc, the engine slated to go into the Batmobile is a 1988 Z-28 350 with roller cam and roller lifters. I'm currently looking for aluminum hipo heads for it. I'm estimating well over 400 ponies (conservative figure at the flywheel). At the rate I have projects stacked up right now, it might be a few months before I get back to working on that engine though. Not sure I want to race another Fiero, that means one of them has to lose and that would be sad. I already have a friend who wants to race my car with their 1970 Olds 442 that has a 455 engine. I'd much rather pick on the ricers who think they're hot snot, than classic muscle cars or other Fieros.

Good point on not wanting to humiliate classic cars. Man, I CANNOT believe that a great car like the Olds 442 your friend has IS 30 YEARS OLD!!!!!! How did the last 3 DECADES fly by so fast???? We are going to be in our 60s and talking about our 30 year old Fieros! I'm feeling rather old now. Think I'll take my Geritol and go off to bed. It's past 9:30.

(Note to younger readers. Geritol is an obscure reference to a liquid vitamin that was about half alcohol that was quite popular during the Lawrence Welk era).

(Second note to younger readers. Lawrence Welk is an obscure reference to...oh, never mind)

Batboy, check out AFR. (air flow research). I have a friend that recently put them on his 92 corvette short block, along with a tps mini ram, and he is in the 12's in a 89 iroc. He doesen't even have a good cam to match the heads yet and he is running reall good. Thoose cnc heads are awesome! Just thought I might recomend them or at least suggest them. Ohh ya, and continue the beating up on ricers, man gota love that!
