Been working on the Batmobile today, in between a couple of rain delays. I wanted to see how the new rear coil-overs worked, but haven't gotten it aligned yet. Knowing I couldn't eyeball the strut adjustment worth a dingdang, I thought about it (something I'm not used to doing, BTW). Suddenly I remembered one of you members saying to use a carpenter's level to get the rear alignment close enough to drive to the front end shop. Hey, it works.
Also, Ogre said to do the final torquing of the hub nut with the on the ground with the wheels and tires installed. That Haynes method of using a screwdriver against two of the lug studs is crazy.
So far I love the ride! Didn't go over 60 MPH or take any corners at speed (with the lack of alignment, it started handling squirrelly the faster I went). But, it's good enough to drive to the shop now, which I hope to do in a week or so. Check out my pic...Batmobile in the weeds!

Of course, I was careful today with my baby and didn't push it, but so far, I love it! The ride is rock solid, very firm, but not excessively hard. It's beginning to have an exotic sports car feel to it. Can't wait to get the rear sway bar mounted, the second engine dogbone fabricated, and buy new tires and wheels. Ok, so I'll have to wait another month on the tires, I'm broke right now from building my truck's 454 hipo engine.
If you've been following along, I have done a total suspension and steering rebuild and upgrade. I have replace all tie rods and balljoints (front and rear), installed poly bushings everywhere but on the cradle, S/T sport front lowering springs, rear coil-over conversion, new shocks and struts, bump steer correction kit from RCC, and I also had reinforcement plates welded onto the bottom of the rear control arms to prevent any flexing. I have already done the Grand Am brake mod too. Just about time to start thinking about my body mods now (hood louvers, front air dam, and rear wing).

Nice Job!!! Just to prepare you a little I did basically the same as you except I used Eibach springs. But my warning is to take to an alignment shop that has a new machine. The one with the mirrors and lights. I took mine to a goodyear dealer with one of these new fangled machines and 4 hours later I had a PERFECT alignment. Plus they gave me a 2-page report that showed all of the measurements! Once aligned you will be amazed at how well the car corners and handles!!
Daddy-o, I spent a lot of time planning all these mods, checked out what everyone else was doing with their cars, asked lots of questions, got lots of advice, and shopped around for the best prices for the best parts. So yes, I had a pretty good idea what I was after as far as how low I wanted to go, and I came very close to my dream plan. I'm going with slightly smaller front front tires and bigger rear tire...then it should be perfect!
Thanks for all the nice remarks and comments. This is the honest truth, I'd never could of done it without the help and encouragement of this Forum, you guys are the greatest. I've done every single bit of all this work myself so far and if I must say so myself, I'm mighty proud of the results (now my hat won't fit my big swelled head). I can't quit looking at it. Wow, I can't believe how far the Batmobile has come along since I bought it almost a year ago. I had to work on it in the previous owner's driveway for a weekend just to get it road worthy enough to drive 50 miles home.

I put in new front ball joints, front and rear outer tie rod ends, eibach springs in front, shelby custom coil overs in rear, KYBs all around, RCC rear bump steer kit, and poly bushings every where except the engine mounts. I am amazed at how smooth the front is. The rear is a bit stiff with 350# springs, but the poly bushings were real tight squeeze and I am getting some bind. A couple of hundred miles should be enough to break in everything and give me a better feel. I will try and post a couple of pics later to show the ride height change. Next project will either be 3.4L engine upgrade or beefing up the brakes. Gregg
