After months of searching, I bought an 88 GT back around Christmas. I was wanting an 88, so I got what I wanted. Now in a local Buy/Sell paper I saw this ad: 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT. V6, 5-speed, burgundy color, great condition T-tops. $1900
I will call and see if the car is still there and if it is I will post info for any interested people.

That IS disheartening Cooter! Just a general comment, but since I am always on the prowl for 88s, I have seen MANY excellent deals around the country. One guy bought a Silver 88GT with around 100k for less than $1500. All it needed was a new TC solenoid for the automatic tranny. He got an outstanding deal, but there are so many more all the time. I hate to say it, but I think that after 12 -16 years, unless a car is being bought by an Enthusiast who will pay for what he/she feels is worth alot, most Fieros wind up being sold for alot less than we owners want to admit to ourselves. I've seen some 88 GTs on the market for over a year, with the price slowly dropping from $6K to $3K and lower in some cases. There is an 88 Formula TTop for sale on the yahoo auctions, current price is $2100 and he'll likely get no more than $3000 if that. The Fiero Market is great right now for buyers but not sellers, except for a few cases. Same as it ever was, I guess, but surely hard to take. As prices keep falling for most Fieros, I advise buyers to keep checking the dozens of online used car sources, because the deals are out there, just like Cooter found. Cooter, GO Get That Beast! The wife will understand, and regardless of falling prices that is a GREAT deal (as if you didn't know). Bring your other GT to the swap meet this weekend and I think you'll get your money back! GOOD LUCK!

You wouldn't believe it but, I only paid 400 dollars for my 88 Coupe. It was in good shape too. I now have a sunroof, V6, GT gauges, power windows, GM CD player that looks factory, ok you get the Idea. I love this 88 maybe more than my fastback GT.

I cant get in contact with the owner. I have left messages on their machine, but have got no return calls. I am going to assume this car is sold so I will be able to sleep at night again. But, the trader paper that had the car listed comes out again tomorrow. If it is still in there, I will post the phone number so y'all can harass them too!
No, I will not let this thread die! Yesterday, I get a call at the shop. The people with the GT had been out of town and just got back to check their messages. The car: 88 GT with 104,000 miles, it his wife's car that they bought in 1992. It has been garage kept since they had it- doesn't want to sell but new family member on the way and needed a new 4 door car and was tired of parking the new car outside because they refused to give up the Fiero's spot in the garage! I am going to see it today, hopefully will post some pictures.
This is a local, 2 owner car. The girl that I got it from bought it with 22,000 miles on it. It now has 104,000. She has had a new clutch installed, NEW headlight motors, NEW rotors and rebuilt calipers, new cat. converter and had the oil changed every 2500 miles.
She and her husband had to get a bigger car for an upcoming baby. I almost feel bad for buying this car from her so cheap. Before I left, she said that they really wanted to keep it because in a few years it would probably be worth some money. Anyway, it has a good home now and I promised her to bring it back when a new paint job gets put on and the other detail work gets taken care of.

Hey cooter, if she complains too much you can let her drive that yard kart underneath the edelbrok flag. She wouldn't be so quick to complian if she was riding that to work. Besides an88 gt t-top is hard to comeby nowadays, good, no great buy!
I bid $2,000 and will even throw in a dead 87 Fiero SE for a trade-in, since I know how much you enjoy being in hot water with your wife all the time...LOL!
