I have a pair of new 1986 Trans Am hood louvers that I plan on installing onto the Batmobile soon. I've seen them mounted in a couple of different ways. Here is one way I really like shown in this pic. Any opinions or comments?

I have wondered how those louvers looked. I think body colored would be better, but that may just be me. I had another thought of relieving some of that unwanted air pressure while looking at one of my extra hoods. Under the hood, there is the support channels. What about using a hole saw to open up some holes in the supports above the radiator and some holes at the back of the hood to relieve the built up air pressure. Basically, use the built in braces for ductwork to vent the air into the cowl area at the windshield. I may try it on my worst parts car hood to see what happens.
Heh, heh, it's a good thing we're all different...
batboy, I like the way the louvers are mounted in the second picture better. I agree with Cooter about the color though. I think the louvers would look much better being the same color as the body. Otherwise, they become way too obvious. The most important thing is that the louvers are tilted back, allowing the air to escape, and not tilted forward, which would only be adding to the problem by forcing more air into the under hood area.
The louvers would blend in with the lines of the car better if painted the same body color. Unfortunately, until I get the Batmobile repainted, the louvers will be black like all the rest of the trim on the car and like in the first pic.

I'm going to have vents put on like these but without the raised leading edge. What do you think? V-8 archie does these. I don't have a pic without the raised edge..sorry.

Those long louvers look cool, but they also look too long and might extend up into the spare tire compartment. I wouldn't want rain getting in there all the time. I have the TA louvers and am committed to using them, just trying to figure out exactly how to mount them. I can only cut the hood once.

i have the side vents off an early 80's Z-28 camaro (last of the second generation) on my hood.got them at a swap meet and found out what they came from later. i think they look good, and are angled back pretty well for apperance and pressure relief. i was also able to keep them far enough forward to not worry about my front trunk leaking. i am hoping to glass them to the hood for a better apperance. i have a bunch of flush screws around it now.

sorry, just a cheap web-tv guy.can't do a pic even if i knew how.i know it's a few months off but i mean to go to the meet in lou. ky. not to show but someone might think it's interesting enough to photo. i also have a saleen mustang wing on it (for non-hatch back or conv.). they're commom and cheap if you can't find a stock wing. looks good. also try F-40 wing. i know this has nothing to do with vents. just throwin' ideas out there.
