Ok this is a short post, what is a 2m4 and a 2m6? What is the difference between these and the rest of the Fieros (except for the GT, i can tell the difference on it ])?
2M4 and 2M6 (2 seater Mid-engine, 4 or 6 cylinder)were just early designations. It would seem that as soon as the MR2 (Mid-engine Rear-drive 2 seater) came out Pontiac probably chose to remain out of the import alphabet soup game(My favorite was the RX-7 GXL SE) and stick with SE and GT. Funny how that works!

At least the "SE" on the Fiero actually stood for something (Special Edition). The "GXL SE" on the Mazda didn't stand for anything. I guess they were just copycats who were too stupid to figure out what "SE" stood for. I'd better go take my medicine before I get started on imports.

I may have incomplete data here (not the first time) but I think the RX-7 GSL SE WAS a "special edition". It had the 13B rotary engine with EFI whereas the other models (GS, GSL, maybe others) only had the 11A rotary with carb. The SE also had leather interior and larger cast aluminum rims (among other things).

According to a Mazda dealer/contact, we're both correct. The SE was nicer than a non-SE, but "SE" still didn't stand for anything officially (at least not according to their books)> The SE wasn't the only model to have the larger motor or the bigger rims, etc, just in the years where the SE was offered. Do I make sense? Not all years had an SE model. Some of the later years without an SE model were the same as...overload !!! Compare it to the '85 GT and the '86 SE. Essentially the same car, but different designations. I hope I'm making myself clear, 'cause I'm starting to confuse my, myself and I !

Call--Don't make a mistake and assume that all GTs are fastbacks. The '85 GT was a notchback and the '86 SE was almost identical to the '85 GT. And some of the '85 GTs didn't have wings. I have pics of one like that. (Well I would if my camera hadn't run out of batteries! ). It has the luggage rack.
Tom--that's what I thought until I was outvoted by the rest of the forum. Everyone else is sure that the only notchback GTs were in '85. Does anybody know for sure????

How did you get a picture of my 85 GT w/out a wing? I also did some checking here a work. According to the records I could find, GM did not make any 86 GT Notch back. They did make Fieros that are identical to the 85 GT, but minus the GT badge. They received the SE badging instead.
The Fiero Press Guide contains copies of Pontiac's 1986 model-year-intro press materials, and the only models listed are the coupe and SE. Then, in mid-year, Pontiac issued a press release announcing the addition of the GT (fastback) to the model lineup.
Based on this, I'd say there were officially no notchback 1986 GT's made.
Cooter--Ummm...It's right behind the fastback GT. At least it was in the pic you posted. Did you move it? Don't tell us that you've lost a car?! How can you lose a red car? What, are you like from Alabama, or something?
