I have a sticker made of steel,or some kind of metal, that was installed (I think) after recalls were done. I was wondering if anyone else has one or has ever seen one. This is the only one I have ever seen. It has never been installed and was given to me by a friend. This is what it says:

(has the Pegasus at the top with "Fiero" written above the symbol)
Regular maintenance and proper services are very important for your Fiero. There have been engine fires in some Fieros - fires that have destroyed the cars - because they didn't get proper maintenance and service. Don't let this happen to your Fiero! Please read and follow the special full-color Fiero maintenance booklet.

i do have a sticker in original condition that the previous owner gave me and booklets of fiero care, for my 84 pontiac fiero, Gm had some defective piston rods that were put in something like 1 out of 4 fieros and the rod would break, going through the block and oil would get on the exhaust and start a fire. There was a big recall because what i read fieros were just melting away. The recall was GM paying for oil changes, new oil filter which added a quart of oil to the car, the driver checking the oil, coolant. The recalls was one thing that made the sales of fieros poor. Theres probably other people in this group that now more i was just a kid when the fiero first came out.

My recall sticker on the 86 SE is just a white label on the left strut tower with the recall number and date on it.

They are "campaigns, not recalls" 8^)

I have one of those stickers too. It was intended to be put on the console somewhere behind the shift lever to remind the driver to properly maintain the oil level. I got mine when I took my '84 in for the "fluid leak" recall. It wasn't too bad a deal for me since the dealer ended up replacing my engine with a new factory long block. He did that after I mentioned that I had heard lifter clatter on occasion when driving briskly around long corners. I did not expect a new engine, especially since the car had 99,600 miles at the time!!! It's still the best deal I've ever gotten from a dealer.

That is one mighty sweet deal. The dealer was probably told to do anythning possible to prevent any more fires, even replace engines if needed. Too bad we can't all go to the dealer today, complain of lifter clatter, and have a brand new long block installed for free. No matter what the mileage.

Rodru6 - how long ago was that engine replacement done? My Fiero has a head gasket leak and I'm in the planning stage of replacing my motor, maybe I can get the dealer to replace mine.

Jim, as far as I can remember, that recall was in late 1988 or early 1989. I used to average about 25,000 miles a year, so my '84 would have been around 4 years old or so. Unfortunatly, I don't think Pontiac would be too interested in replacing any more Fiero engines. I'm sure they would rather try and sell you something new instead. The recall stated that the dealer would correct any fluid leaks and repair any engine damage caused by low oil. I had a rear main seal that had a fairly good leak and asked if they would drop the oil pan and check the bearings for me. I was totally surprised when the service manager told me they would just go ahead and put in a new engine! I've certainly gotten my money's worth out of the car!
