I recently got my 87 GT on the road and started driving it. Just so you know, I used to be 4Banger Bandit(the guy who got the GT from the repairables lot.) It's turned out real nice, and all it really needs is paint and some headlight work now. Anyhow, I was just taking a cruize through a residential neighborhood on a bright sunny day in S.D. when some guy watering his lawn totally STARES at my car as it drives by and then yells "what the hell kindof car is that!?". Later that day, I was challenged by 2 hondas, a white Grand Prix with and old man driving, and a 4th Gen Camaro. Sheesh! My 94Z-28 doesn't get anywhere near this kind of attention. How bout you guys?

When I had my 86 GT I had the same kind of things happen to me. At the grocery store parking lot I was walking up to the door when I turned back to my car to see some guy running up to my car just to take a look through the window.

Maybe he was looking for spare change, Jetro.

I have noticed this, and there's a HUGE disparity in how much attention a 4-banger gets vs a V6. Six years of driving 4-cyl Fieros and only two unsolicited compliments on my car (and they were nice Fieros, too - good paint, usually clean and waxed).

I bought a red SE in very good (not excellent) condition, and in the first month of driving, I had three strangers tell me what a cool car it was. Must be the wing, the ground effects and the rumble.

I love my 4-banger, but apparently no one else does. I think I'll go sulk.

I've had so many compliments on my car, I can't count. (86 SE V6) Of course I've had it since it was born. I'll never forget, shortly after I bought it, some guy that worked at a Lincoln Mercury place was walking across the road to go into the dealership and he just stopped in the middle of the road, right in front of my car and said "NICE CAR!" He stood there for a few seconds just admiring it, then started walking again, but kept looking back at it. I just laughed! That's the first time I ever got a reaction like that for a car!

The best compliment I have had on my 87GT since I bought it back in April, has to be this one lady that came into my store and had to know who the owner of the fiero outside was. I told the lady that it was my car and she said, "Come here, this is going to scare you." I thought she hit my car or something, so I go to the window and look out. Right beside my GT was a GT exactly like it!! The woman saw my car and had to show me her car. The same car. Color and all. Hers was a automatic though.. Thats it! I thought it was so cool.

I had the same thing happen to me. I thought for sure that someone had hit my car, but it turns out that there were twins....except for the fact that I rebuilt my headlight motors, and I knew to replace my fan relay and didnt hotwire the fan to a switch hanging from the dash, and I have a relativley good paint job..... but other than that, they were twins.

Even though I loved my 4-banger I had 92-95, I think my 87GT is the best looking car ever made! Unfortunately, I can recall having many positive comments and stares when I had the coupe, but I haven't had many since my GT purchase last April! Oh well, I love it........thats all that counts.

Well, I got the ultimate compliment on my car today. A squeegee-person who I had just motioned away from my Fiero, smiled and said "Nice car" as he walked past me to his next potential customer.

If you don't know what a squeegee-person is, you obviously don't live in a big city.
