Looking to buy "Driveworks" brand from Advance Auto because it's cheaper than Autozone Compressorworks brand. There are no reviews for it so was wondering if anyone has installed one? Says its a DA6 and nothign about it being upgraded to HR6. Then not sure on the sealing ports. Is it still the old rubber O-ring style or the new washers?

My first experience with the Driveworks brand was last year involving a center link for a blazer, it was the right part design wise but the holes for the tie rod attachment points were too small or had not been tapered properly leaving a small portion of the available stud threads exposed to secure the tie rod. That left me with the impression the brand is an even cheaper product than what was already available as cheap.

Driveworks is Advance's house, low price brand. Basically they source the cheapest aftermarket parts from a variety of suppliers. In other words, you're getting about the worst possible quality of any replacement part when you buy Driveworks.

My advice: Don't do it, unless you know who the supplier is.

I've had good luck with Factory Aire (which Advance used to sell, not sure if they still do).

Agreed. Doesn't seem to rebuilt too well.

"No, I am sorry. The Driveworks Air Conditioning Compressor with Clutch - Remanufactured - Part No. DW57655 is a DA6 only and is no retrofitted to HR6 standards. It contains as much as 78% new components with gaskets, o-rings, or seals to properly replace the product. It is also enhanced with a triple lip seal to prevent shaft seal leaks and includes 1.5 oz of ICE32 to promote performance and longevity. The ports are not recessed but come with an old O-ring styled sealing. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have."

With many cheap "remanufactured" automotive A/C compressors the part most often that they change is the shaft seal. That's the part that most often fails. It would take too much labor and parts cost to take apart a unit that has failed and to rebuild everything. The A/C Delco rebuilt compressors were done with a complete rebuild and perhaps the Four Seasons brand also, but look at the cost. Many times completely failed compressors "grenade" and then chance of rebuilding are slim. Budget rebuilders typically buy junkyard compressor units, spin test them to see if they pump and then clean repaint, replace the seals and test -done.
