I swapped mine out w/ a new one, and there's an additional wire (cruise control related, perhaps? Theold one didn't have the extra goodies in the stalk)
It's coming from the steering column one black wire with a red tip. Does it plug into the Fuse box del amore?

The wire color you describe is not conventional for the Fiero, so I doubt anyone will be able to help you. All of the wires in the Fiero are either solid colors, or solid with a single stripe of a different color. Black wires in the Fiero are always ground wires, but the confusion comes from when you say the wire has a "red tip". Do you mean the wire becomes red or are you talking about a connector at the end of the wire?

The connecter at the end of the black wire is Orange (sorry, don't know why I said red above)

If you could post a picture of the wire and the connector, it would certainly help to identify it. I looked at all the circuits that run down from the steering column including pulse wipers, cruise control, turn signals, hazards, headlight dimmer, and horn. The only circuit that has a black wire in the column is the horn circuit. It shouldn't be all by itself though... it should be part of a much larger connector that's really thin and has 11 cavities.
