Is there any place I can look up how to decifer the numbers and letters on the ewngine block?? My old block has the following ingo on it. b 192 gm5 and gm-96 3800 These were found on the block near the trans area. Also on the side of the block near the oil filter it says 3800 series II. on the otherside it has the numbers 24506029

Any help would be great. If a engine was a series III wouldn't the block say it??

I'm talking about the 3800 SC engines.

Found this on the net

"•1997-2008 VIN K/2 and l/4 SUPERCHARGED
There was another new block casting in ’97 that had one small difference: the end seals for the intake manifold were held in place with two pegs that fit into the blind holes that were located beside the end rails. It’s a 24506029 casting that was used for all FWD and RWD applications."
