I'm annoyed with the rear brakes on my 87 gt. What upgrades are available that do not use the turning piston?

Cheapest, no-brainer install is to use two 84-87 front calipers. You loose the parking brake, but gain self adjusting brakes. No brackets, no mods.

Works on low-buck track cars very well.

I want to chime in before someone says this is illegal. It is illegal (so is speeding) and i have been using front calipers on my rear in MN for the past 8 years. I was worried that they might lock up at first because the piston size is slightly different but I can say they do not lock up any more than the stock rear calipers would. In MN the parking brake cables on all fieros were siezed when the cars were about 4 years old anyway (and no one replaces the parking brake cables) so it is not like you are losing the parking brake you most likely already do not have any way. So basically I second what he said...

If you want to be able certify your car, and run the proper balance for your brakes, go with the Caddy Seville caliper on the rear with the bracket you can buy from DPWood.

The calipers are put on backwards, so they self adjust going forward. The bleeder is at the top, and you have a parking brake.

my e brake doesnt work to begin with, and i was planning on getting rid of it for right now, due to money. I just want to get her on the road safely. I like the idea of front brakes on the rear. I will have to try that out!
