Been reading A LOT about sound deadener and am ready to get some, but can't get a straight answer anywhere. I'm interested in Peel n Seal for the obvious reasons (cost, availability, cost...) and want to know if it's OK to use. My big questions are:

Will it withstand high temps (gets HOT- over 100 here in the summer)?
Can I use it on vertical surfaces?
Does it smell like tar for a long time, or when it gets hot?
Can I use it in the trunk as a heat shield? My muffler is very close to the trunk wall.

Thanks!

I bought cans of spray on bed liner that I'm going to use inside my car. It has to be easier to work with than Peel n Seal! I was also concerned about the tar smell.

I was going to say, use a spray on rubberized undercoating or bed liner spray. The rubberized undercoating is not too expensive and can be sprayed on any surface. The peel n seal has been known to fall apart in automotive use.

I did this before the Dynamat in my old Mustang. No smell after new carpet. I will do it to my GT this spring.

I had the rubberized backing of the carpet melt to the firewall due to the heat my turbo was making. (No engine bay insulation) I put a bit of that roof stuff behind my seat in the interior to help with some of the heat. It certainly worked great for the heat issue. No idea if I've been breathing in toxic fumes, however.

When I competed in DBDrag ( car Audio competition) a lot of people used the roofing material from lowes, at the time 10+ years ago it was a ton cheaper than Dynomat and similar products..
