Hey guys,

So im taking college classes for Automotive Tech. I have been learning a lot and I am really enjoying it. But I have a problem again. I have oil the the driver side and passenger side wheel wells. Just a line from one end to the other. I think oil is leaking from somewhere and is getting on the axles and then getting slung up into the wheel wells. Problem is I don't see where its coming from. I check my dipstick about once a week and I can't see a change in the oil level.

I asked one of my instuctors and he said it looked like maybe the oil pan gasket leak. But he wasn't sure.

What do you guys think??

Thanks.

Are your axles oily? If not, it's not oil running down your axles. You should be able to trace any leak back to its source.

CV joint boots torn? Inner? Outer?

Transmission fluid level?

Brake fluid level?

If it's in the wheel well, then the outer CV joint boot is the most likely culprit.

Yeah if tis really thin fluid could be brake fluid.
Otherwise could be grease from cv shaft.
Is it all over the inside of the tire /rim as well?

After rebuilding my axles and installing new boots, one of the boot clamps came loose and grease splattered all over the wheel well. Your description sounds about the same. My vote is CV boot.

If you have an automatic, check the coolant lines! I had to patch my transmission line till I got the money to replace it and transmission fluid is EVERYWHERE on the under side and in the wheel wells of my fiero. Keeps the corrosion away nicely though XD
