Can't find any speed hops near me. That'd be a road trip type deal. That's why i was wondering if anyone else could find out. Sucks to be me.

Wow, now you have to wonder about any flywheel coming from that place.

Honestly, at this point, there are a few members offering OEM flywheels that you can resurface. Might be a good idea to take them up on the offer.

BR's,

What is the typical life span of a flywheel, under light to moderate driving conditions (i.e.: driver and climate)?

My 87GT flywheel was still good on it's 2nd clutch at 135K and it wasn't driven easily. Only removed it because I went to a 3.4 and needed a neutrally balanced flywheel. I drove the car hard, but didn't burn rubber or slam gears. It may not last a thousand miles if you run on the drag strip Friday and Saturday night.

Ok so just to report since my car is running and driving....

So the vibration is nowhere near as bad as it used to be, not even close, but it still vibrates, and I am assuming it vibrates more than it should. So I am just going to assume from now on any flywheel without a weight on the back will not work. Mine half works I guess but I am not happy with it. So I am looking for an externally balanced flywheel as well. Best deal I found elsewhere online for a resurfaced one was 86 bucks shipped. So let me know if anyone has something for better than that.

Firstly, I've filed a complaint with the BBB detailing RockAuto's repeated lies and flip-flopping about this part. I'll let you know how that turns out, but I'd urge everyone to do the same. It's pretty fast and easy online and it might convince RockAuto to shape up.

Having said that, is it possible that they made a flywheel somewhere in between balanced and neutral? It seems unlikely to me, but it would explain everything.

And I'm told that resurfaced will mean slightly imbalanced because of that. It should be pretty close though.

Meanwhile, I'm talking with some manufacturers and OEM suppliers to see if I can track down something correct that's more reasonably priced. Autozone, O'Reilly, CarQuest etc all need over $225 with no returns if they also happen to be neutrally balanced because it's a special order direct from one of these manufacturers. Most online sellers have Chinese parts for $90 but I could get rarer flywheels for half that price any day.

Until then: locate hen, extract teeth. And grab a few for the rest of us while you're at it, lol.

I'll let everyone know what I find. So far my best is about $80 shipped for one from a Japanese company that provides OEM parts. Not sure if they're cast there or in China.

I have bought 3 from an IAPA Auto Parts associate. The actual auto parts stores may have a different name, but they're IAPA franchisees. I have always bought for a 91 Beretta 3.1 and they have never given me any problems. 2 were manual and 1 was an automatic. They were in the $60 range and as I recall they were USAmerican.

And somewhere between balanced and not balanced can't be. Either it is or it isn't.
