I've got a crack in the rear clip on my notchie.
Do I absolutely HAVE to remove the clip to repair this?

is there a resin or epoxy that would work best? Would just bondo filler do?

(the black crap all over the lip is caulking from the PO sticking on the sails...)

I'm no expert... I would drill a hole in the tip of the crack to prevent it from spreading. Then with a dremel or something, clean up the crack somewhat, and fill it witha flexible bondo. Sand, prime and repaint.

Again, I'm no expert, but that's how I would tackle it. If it were a flexible part (bumper ir something) I would take it off to reinforce it.

Cheers!

Just bondo alone & it will surely crack again. grind it out a little and at least use some fiberglass RESIN, best to bevel it out and use a strip of fibergass mat, not cloth. Then you can bondo it.

I've got one of these...came with some fiberglass mat (i think) and resin etc...

Thx for the tips! I'm not going to use just bondo...figured that was a bad idea.

I've also purchased this for repairing a small tear in the nose...would this be suitable over the mat/resin?

Just so you know, there is no fiberglass whatsoever on the Fiero. The rear clip is made out of SMC or sheet molded compound. It's like fiberglass, but different. You might have better success with SMC adhesive/repair kit. It's expensive but probably would give better results.

I have had great results using the Evercoat brand products. Get the S.M.C stuff for the rear clip.
