It's right around +1*F, and a quarter after 2 in the morning, I'm hanging out in front of the stove, cuz it's cold in here, and the horn goes off in the Fiero. I'm not amused in the slightest. Thinkin' neither are the neighbors as Im the one usually complaining about the noise.

It beeps every now and then getting in and out, been wondering about that for a week or so. Tonight, about midnight, it beeped again breifly. Around 1, it laid on the horn until I could run out there and smack the wheel to shut it up. It worked, for a while. Then as above, it went full on and this time I popped the button off, and got the spring loaded black thingy out, hopefully that will do the trick for the night.

Back in the day, I had a friend with a new Grand Am that did that. SOOOO annoying. He finally took it to the dealer to have it fixed under warranty.

BTW.... -9F this morning.... just a tad chilly

that must have been very annoying.
Do you have a 3 spoke wheel? I wonder if the vinyl is contracting in the cold enough to hit the horn? Its been really cold quick here.

If steering wheel affect the problem...

likely need wheel puller and lock plate tool.

wheel/switch or parts inside column could be the problem.

Pulling horn relay is easy fix in cold weather.

Those contacts are thin strips of metal, likely contracting due to the cold or something?

Maybe. Switch Depends on which steering wheel. Fiero has several options...

Perhaps you could run an extension cord and place a 100w incandescent light on the steering wheel to keep it warm on the really cold nights. If this does not fix it, at least you will know it is not the cold affecting the switch. If it does prevent it from blowing, then you haven't made any changes to the vehicle.

Thats a good idea. Prolly keep the miscreants away too.

I put the horn switch and cover back on, thankfully I haven't had the problem again.
