I have a 3400 block in my '85 GT with a 3.1 starter off I don't know what. I have the stock TH125 auto with the stock flywheel. Will the smaller starter from the 3400 work? The bolt holes are the same and it has the 9 tooth gear but the gear sticks out from the casting a little more that the stock Fiero starter. I was wondering if there was still enough clearance from the ring gear.

it'll work fine, FWIW, my 3500 swap is using an 88 Fiero V6 flywheel, and a 3400 starter.

Thanks for the reply. Are the later ones "gear driven", I saw that when looking at Rock Auto?
