I have a modded 3800SC engine and It has this metal to metal/matallic sound coming from the rear left of the cylinde head. I thought it was a lifter, or slack in the valve train, So I went back to the stock lifters and installed new pushrods. I also changed the rockers. Still has the same sound.I do have headers installed. What else could it be?

Are you sure that you don't mean the front left of the engine near the cabin firewall? A front manifold exhaust leak sounds like a repetitive ticking sound.

use an extention or something as a listening device up against the metal parts in that area. If it doesnt get any louder when you are listening to the extention its probably external to the motor.

That Area has alot of "Heat Shields". maybe they are loose. A bad gasket at you egr delete plate could do it.

Definitely have seen header leaks that sounded like a blown rod, any leak at the head or close to it will do that. Dan
