Hi, my Indy, the insulation at the side walls,, the belt side is falling(starting) into the alt pully/belt.. is this insulation needed,
I can't see it helping keep the noise out of the cabin, the firewall insulation does that..
other than a dirt collector, whats it there for?

I removed all of mine a long time ago. Dirty, itchy job but once it was off it's cleaner and not so itchy o work on. Leave the firewall section on. I didn't find it any louder once it was off.

I removed all the side and firewall insulation a few years back and never really noticed a difference.

There was just another thread on the same thing Friday. Take the stuff out and throw it away. Its just a nasty dirt and water collector.
