I'm thinking about adding a light to indicate when the cruise control is on. Anyone done this? Any GM vehicles of our era that have a "cruise" light that I can cut and splice the display onto the blank indicator spot between our idiot lights are?

I'm guessing that the wiring would be simple. Can probably use the empty socket behind the dash assuming it wont cause any feedback through the printed circuit board.

Holy smokes dude...thank you very much...thats exactly what I wanted to do! Tho I wanted to keep my shift light. I was hoping to just tap into a power lead to turn on a light (same place you added yours) when the cruise switch is on. Didn't even think of making it work when the cruise is "engaged." that makes much more sense!

What GM model did you find with the "cruise" light on the dash. I'm assuming 90's Buick or Oldsmobile.

Here's mine.
Got the filter from a Buick 90's vintage. forget what year but the display went from the drivers door all the way over to the passenger door as one piece. Real bugger to get apart.

The 2000 era Dodge Dakota and Durango have a similar Cruise template in the dash and I believe there's enough room on either side that you could cut it and put it in the unused elongated window at the top right of the instrument panel and keep your Shift light if you wanted.

I just finished using "Fierofreaks" instructions to add a cruise light to my 87GT. It works perfectly and really wasn't that difficult! Hardest part was splicing-in the "cruise" indicator onto the existing idiot light filter (or whatever you wanna call that thing).

I went to the junk yard and pulled the "cruise" filter from a 92 or 93 Buick LeSabre. Also pulled a few extra filters from some Fieros as well just in case I screwed up. I also cut a connector off of the cruise module from a Fiero. I used a relase tool and pulled one of the wires out of the used connector and slid it right into "B" on my existing cruise harness..added a longer wire to that. I didn't want to chance souldering to the circuit board and it looks clean.

One question Fierofreak. You mention locating pin #5 (pink/black) on the harness. Is this to include a bulb check feature? I didn't catch the reason for locating #5 so I just left it alone.

Awesome write-up, I cannot thank you enough. Hope more people take advantage of your work.
