Hi Guys

I recently replaced the steering column on my 87 fiero GT with a spare I had in stock as the tilt mechanism had become very sloppy. While this solved the wobble, it has introduced a new problem When I put the key in and turn the vehicle on, it often will not turn. I can fiddle around with the "key lock lever" and eventually the key will turn and everything is fine. A secondary, and maybe unrelated issue, is that the steering column lock doesn't seem to be operative.

I would appreciate any suggestions as to what the issue might be and how to solve it.

Regards, Richard

I spoke too soon - it is a manual BTW

After playing around with it I think it is as simple as the key is just badly made. If I press the end of the key down then it works fine. Unfortunately I have just a single key for the lock Time to visit a locksmith and see what they can do!

Did you swap the cylinder from your old column into the new one?
