I'm prepping for paint and found threads on how to remove most of the trim but I wondered if there was a way to remove the emblems on the hood and on the rear bumper fascia? It's a 1988 GT. Thanks in advance.

There are sheet metal "speed nuts" on the back side of the nose badge and on the back side of the small bumper trim emblem on the rear.

It is possible to get at the front badge fastners from up under the nose with needle nose pliers and simply twist the two of them off the studs on the back of the emblem.

As for the rear badge, you are going to have to remove the taillight housing to gain access to the speed nuts on that badge.
Once again, there are two speed nuts, however on the rear they screw onto *plastic* studs on the backside of the badge. Be very careful here not to break the studs.
If you do, all is not lost as the Fireo Store sells a replacement badge.
