Need help with 3400 4 speed swap by tk_85redgt

I done a 3400 and a 4 speed swap in my 85 gt,but having a problem with how to set up the clutch cables.Has any 1 done a swap with a 3400 and 4 speed.How did u do your cables.The problem i having is they are close to the cross over pipe and not long enough to trans bracket.I got a set of 5 speed Izusu cables but i dont think they will work.Hope some 1 can help me out this.Thanks Tino

I had to make a custom header for my 3900. Wish I had better news for you. I have see people making custom shift linkage but I didn't care to mess with that.

We did a 3500 with 4 speed with the stock exhaust and shift linkage. I all fit but tight, we have since gone to 3500 manifolds and true duels .

tdv ya they are tight but the bracket that holds the cables the 1 with the 2 hole i hade to remove it to clear the cross over pipe.Did your work or did u have to modify it?and how did u do it.

This is on a 3800, but I've seen it done for a 3400.

Essentially, you're using the inner cable in the outer cable's mount/hole, and making a new mount/hole farther out for the outer cable.

Thanks I found some of those post.I have all the brackets done, tommorrow i'll install them.I almost have the harness done hope this weekend i can start it i hope if i get every thing done.Thanks again.
