Has anyone come up with an alternative to the Fiero Store's replacement?

http://www.fierostore.com/P...px?s=60853&d=246&p=1

It's not cheap ($38 + shipping), but the main reason I'm asking is because I'm leery of the quality, based on a previous thread in this forum.

Thanks all.

it's garbage, sorry to be late to inform! I bought one and sent it back.

For $38, that thing should be flawless, and trust me, it's not at all.

If you've ever removed the fuel block from the fuel rail it is extremely common to see a badly deteriorated gasket there. This gasket is one of the most neglected maintainance items on the Fiero V6's and if it fails a fire will result. Its one of the first things that we replace when working an engine replacement job. Our stock of these is down to the last one and a new source is needed. Trouble is that any replacement seal must be made to hold 50 psi of fuel pressure. As long as the Fiero Store seal holds the pressure it should work. Its a high price for a small seal plate but the genuine GM item was never cheap either.

Thanks for everyone's input. Dennis: I agree, this would be a very, very bad place for the seal to fail.

Ericjon: What did you do instead of using TFS's seal? I couldn't think of any acceptable alternatives.

I cut the rubber out of the aluminum, and then found a set of o-rings the fit just right in the spot where the rubber was. It held static pressure no problem, but shortly after that, I gave up on the 2.8 and started a 3500 swap.... I don't see why it wouldn't work as a more permanant repair, I would definately trust it better than the fierostore part I got.

Great idea. Viton O rings in the aluminum plate might work well.

l don't see why it wouldn't hold up long term, but I never got a chance to put it through road trials, the car jumped time and I scrapped the 2.8!
