It may be a 282, or it may be a NV (New Venture Gear) T-550
The T550 that I have came from a 92-93 Corsica or Beretta. It's got an internal slave/hydraulic throwout bearing.
The later 282s had an external slave, but used an internal fork and a separate throwout bearing.
Look inside the clutch housing of your tranny. If it has a clutch fork, or bosses for a clutch fork, it's a later 282. (I believe it's still called a 282.)
If it's got no fork or bosses for the fork, its a T550.
Either of them will have a sturdier differential than the Fiero 292.
