1986 Fiero SE with 2.8 undergoing a 3800SC upgrade. I am in the process of dropping the cradle and am having trouble removing the emergency brake cable. I have been able to disconnect the cable but am unable to pull the cable through the fittings in the cradle. Is there a trick to it?

I have the same vehicle and I replaced all my cables a year ago. Don't recall any problems like that.
Maybe a pic would help.

You have to squeeze the clips together that hold the cables in the holes. You can try putting a small hose clamp over the figures to hold them in as you pull it out. I have better luck just tipping it sideways and working each clip finger in one at a time while keeping outward pressure to keep them in the hole as I work the next one.

There's a tool you can get to compress the tangs while you take it out. Basically a short tube.

I usually just fight with the things using several screwdrivers and wriggling the thing about until it comes out.
