I have a crack in my lenses on my gt--the price (e-bay) is nuts on gt's--so rather than replace just for a crack I would like to bond and seal them without looking too horrible
I googled how to fix lexan, plexi, abs, acrylic--they all have a different process and rather than having alot of chemicals I thought someone here might know what they are made of
thanks

Why doesnt someone start making new lens covers for these cars? They would make a fortune, provided they didn't come with a greedy pricetag.

Tooling for any molded part is expensive. Im guessing since theres not a big demand, price would be pretty high.

Visit a plastic molding factory and you will see why it won't happen. There must be a few right around where you live.

I used to work at one.

The Fiero Store told me that the LF marker light wouldn't be in stock for 6 weeks, because they were waiting for a new batch to come in from manufacturing. If they make all 4 marker lights, why not the tail lights also? They will be selling them to the same people, they are making profit from the marker lights, why not the tail lights?

The old tooling is still around? That's a lucky break.....I wonder who owns it...probably not the Fiero Store.....The machine time for a tool that size is maybe $1000 per hour, and the first hour of production would be junk.....so it's a big business gamble. You have to make enough of them to make money at an established price. $150 is probably as low as it will get....How many can you sell in a year?... 10?....100?

The Fiero Store had a company using their (The Fiero Store's) tooling to make the lenses but they closed their doors without notice taking the tooling with them. Tooling for a piece would run well into six figures to reproduce. Assuming they molded 100 sets at a time and sold 16-20 sets a month it would take 5 years just to break even. Only a fool would make that investment.

As far as I know, the tooling is scrap - the company TFS contracted to make the GT tails went under and everyone bailed.

[Will beat me to it. F'n crappy data reception out here]
