I know the '84 fenders are slightly different because of the different mounting holes. As for the '85-88 fenders, are the fenders that came with the ground effects like on Aero cars and bumperpad SE's any different from base model car fenders that didn't have the ground effects trim?

I'm wondering if a GT fender would be a direct swap onto a Formula just by removing the trim or would there be holes, etc?

Thanks,

Aero cars will have holes in the fenders, otherwise, they are the same as coupes.

BTW bumperpad (84-86) cars did not have aero pieces.

I thought cars with GT ground effects had a sort of indent in the fender for the effects...?

Nop, just the holes need to be drilled to add the FX. Been there done that...

My '85 SE had bumperpad bumpers and the side ground effects. I sold the front bumper to Crazydragn.

Slightly off topic, but related...

The fenders may be same (except for holes), but the wheel well liners are certainly different.

Yeah, the liner halves are different dependant on whether they are attached to a bumper or the rocker panel and exactly which rocker or bumper they work with.
