I'm stumped. I am replacing the O-rings on my injectors (2.8l) as they have pretty much all disintegrated, but I can't figure out how to remove them. I have rotated the retaining clip to the unlock position and well...am I missing something? I don't want to force them out and damage them because at $160 a pop, that's not in my budget at the moment. Also have a broken cap on one of them. I have searched on here but came up with nothing on how to actually remove the the injector from the rail once the clip has been "unlocked."

If they don't pull out with a moderate tug, then the o-ring is stuck to the manifold, which is often the case. Use a wide flat bladed screwdriver between the manifold and the bottom of the injector and with a twist it should break free.

Once you rotate the retaining clip you just need to pry them out with a little friendly persuasion....a find a screwdriver does well. When re-installing the new injectors use some petroleum jelly on the o-rings to make them slide in easier.

I was relatively frightened also that I was going to break something when I did my injector o-rings, since it seemed like they were 'stuck' to the MPI fuel rail assembly. However as mentioned, as long as you have rotated the retaining clip all the way the injector is basically just sitting in there due to crud build-up around the o-ring. Give it a nice strong tug with a twist and they'll come out. Trust me.
