My door ajar light and dinger won't turn off. The interior light comes on and turns off when off when each door is opened and closed, but the dash light and dinger stay on always. What could be doing this?

first check all the fuses. dead fuses can do weird things. (see my cave, sneak path in electric section.)

four switch is activated the ajar lamp.
one in each of the doors.
One for the trunk and one for the hood.

The switch for the hood or trunk can break.
you can't isolate the doors by disconnecting the small connector inside of the A pillar. The connector is hidden under the carpet.
the trunk switch is on the latch or on the trunk wall, depends on which year.

Yea, usually the front truck push button needs extending. I put a Scrable piece of wood in the place of the striking point on the hood with some double sided tape and it corrected the issue. Make sure to put the letter side towards the hood and you won't even notice it. LOL! ghetto I know, but some of the best fixes are the simplest ones. :-)

The lights and warning chime are actually two different systems. The “Audio Alarm Module” gets inputs from “Key in ignition”, “seat belt” and “parking brake” so that if the key is in the ignition when you open the door, if you leave you seat belt off or if the parking brake is on (I think this is for automatics). So either the module is bad (likely cause) or it’s getting a false input.
