It does stiffen it up a lot in the front. Which in turn makes the rear feel sloppy. Adding the rear bar will fix that. There are two ways to go about that.
1.) there are instructions on here somewhere to use an front bar on the rear.
2.) Fierostore.
From what i've heard, the fierostore is better unless you use rodneys zaro's on the rear as well with the front bar.
If anyone plans on doing any body or wheel mods i would have second thoughts on these or even lowering the car first. I always wanted them before i lowered my car thinking i would need them but if you are going to use these your going to sit right on the ground in combination with lowered springs. Looks unreal but if your looking to use bigger wheels you may wish to fit them first as these kits are really designed for stock sized wheels and with a 1.7 inch lowering spring. I couldn't possibly use these with my car and it was one of the first mods i really wanted. I am interested in watching you fit them however as it was a part i wanted from start.

From what I hear, the two options do the same thing. If you go with the front bar on the rear you can wait till you can afford the zeros. Personally I would just go for the fierostores option.

From what I've gathered so far, A larger diameter front sway bar is ideal. The stock sway bar is 3/4" i think. Ideally one would use a 1" sway bar up front and move the factory 3/4" sway bar from the front to the rear.
What you say about the rear feeling sloppy is a great point. Thats exzactly how it feels. Im no Danicka Patrick, thats just how it feels to me. I have an extra stock front sway bar that I'm gonna put in the rear, soon as I figure out how... I think it goes in the engine bay and not under the car.
Prolly coulda picked a better thread title because this is turning into sooo much more then just a ball joint discussion, srry RD

Pshew, TY Mattwa, I think I see what Aussie's saying now. He gotta be talking bout the lowering balls.
Mattwa could you take a sec and LMK how the rear sway bar fits? Perhaps a pic? I been scouring the www for a pic of a rear sway bar installed and its not panning out.
Thanks!
Edit: I need an 88 cradle??

Yea, he is saying you can't have lowering ball joints AND lowering springs...you'll be scraping the ground. Lol.
Yea sure, 88 cradle swap! No, that's what I did later, before that I added a stock front bar in the rear. ( I have an 86SE like you...only with a 4.9 on an 88 cradle in the back at present.)
Here is the best picture I have of it, this was in 2010 when I still had my 86 rear suspension and the 3.4 V6 (bleh). There is a big write up on the whole thing on a different website.

Yea sure,
No larger wheels will run out of wheel arch before the car hits the road. You then find you maybe start scraping front bar with larger wheels more so than top of arch with larger wheels.

http://www.wedriveexcitemen...slides/Image0313.jpg you can't see my tires because of the flare and the flare is not the issue it is front bumper i had to fit smaller front tyres to get around it. was 245/40/19 now 225/35/19 but lower the car another inch with those lowering balls and i am not fitting anything larger than 17's in diameter. I am only posting this to show others as if i had done this to my car i wouldn't be using the wheel i have that is for sure. So no i am not talking about rubbing on ground i am talking about the furthest part of the front wheel when wheels are turned hitting front bumper. Not trying to hijack the thread but just explain what i am talking about. Forget i have flares and imagine where the tire touches the arches. It doesn't touch the flares.
