Ok, I'm putting a Series I Supercharged 3800 in my fiero.... yes I know series 2 and 3 are better... I don't care. I bought someone else's project and that's what it came with. What's the redline? It's getting hooked to a 4 spd manual. I wanna know where its safe max shift point is.

The max shift point and the point in the power band where max horsepower is made will be different. I would shift that engine at 5500-5600 RPM. Above that the horsepower falls off. If you are content with about 205 HP the 3800SC series I engines are dated but reliable and get good gas mileage. It uses an Eaton M60 supercharger that is 30% smaller and less efficient than what is used on the series II/III engines but still far better than the stock 2.8L engine..

I'm pretty certain the redline was 5500, tho a buddy of mine thinks it was 5200. There is nothing wrong with a series 1, just a bit lower in the HP department.

yes, I know the pros and cons of the series 1... I pretty much just planned on putting a pulley and a good exhaust. should still be fun to drive. I bought the car/motor as someone elses project, the motor has 60k on it, computer was already done and the harness was worked over so its smooth sailing. I just had to do alittle rust repair, I paid 900 for the whole setup. its an 86 gt fastback 4spd

I answered the same in your other thread... you only need to post once on a subject... if you think its falling to fast down the page, just bump it by posting your self...

KEV here on the forum is swapping his Series I N/A with a Series I SC this spring. Should be a good time... he still has a stock 2.84 4T60e as well.
